Communities

All the municipalities included in the N.A.R.E.W. Partnership are characterised by a similar range of problems concerning the quality of life on rural areas. The inhabitants of the N.A.R.E.W. Partnership stress the rich cultural heritage of the area; however, it is a social resource of a rather hidden character so it should be brought into broad daylight and re-established to the residents as an element of their everyday life and system of values. The next matter that is common for the communities are numerous family and neighbours bounds among the inhabitants of the villages of all seven municipalities. An extremely visible phenomenon is the decreasing level of social integration, especially problematic in the suburban municipalities (for example Choroszcz) and its consequences (for example the decline of bounds among neighbours, lack of psychological and cultural support, formalization and objectification of social relations, etc.). Activities, which might be able to overcome these processes, are for instance the formation of local organisations aimed at social integration.

An alarming phenomenon might be a quite high migration level of young people outside the territories of the Partnership connected with insufficient cultural offer and lack of employment.

An important element uniting the Partnership communities is the awareness of a quite good condition of natural environment along with the quality of the rural landscape. Simultaneously, a low level of ecological awareness is visible, especially among farmers or so-called ‘new inhabitants of villages’. The people of the Partnership pay also considerable attention to the role of technological transformation and deepening of the social inequality called also digital gap, which is caused by a relatively weak infrastructure facilities in the households, especially as far as the access to the internet goes. Nevertheless, all the people hope that the realization of the following strategies will contribute to the equalization of different disproportions and will intensify the level of social integration in the Partnership.
